What was the first famous painting you heard about? A Michelangelo? Da Vinci? No doubt the majority will have had some religious context to them, so much so that we now think Jesus had long ginger hair and Mary always wore blue. It kind of got me thinking about modern religious art - in particular Christian art and how traditional depictions of biblical events dictate how we view religious characters. I figured I would try and illustrate one of the descriptions of God and angels from the bible. Obviously this is a very surreal subject matter, but it’s certainly a world away from the cute little cherubim we’re used to seeing flying around paintings.
