I created this screenprint design as part of a collaboration with Printed By Us; a social enterprise that runs screen printing workshops for homeless and vulnerable people in Sheffield. Their aim is to give the people involved a great step towards gaining long-term employment with other Sheffield businesses.
"We believe there is hope and a way forward for every person. But we believe that creativity, enterprise and the people of Sheffield all have their part to play."
Printed By Us
Printed By Us collaborates with local artists to produce screenprints that can be sold to raise further funding for the project. The design I created is a fun illustration with an underlying message of hope. It needed to be created in one or two colours in order to keep it simple enough for the workshops so I decided to stick to single colour and add detail in the line work, incorporating hand drawn lettering.
I drew the full illustration by hand using black pen. The design was then scanned, edited in photoshop and supplied in order for it to facilitate a screenprinting workshop where the final screenprints were created.
The prints are on sale on the Printed By Us online shop and all profits made go straight back into the running of the project, so why not invest in one of these beautiful prints, knowing you've also donated to an amazing cause.
