Becks & Co. helps to connect Business and The Arts to raise profiles, build communities and, most importantly, fundraise for important causes. Becks & Co. was established by Rebecca Staden, inspired by her previous experience of project managing other successful arts fundraising projects for charities, collaborating with local businesses and artists to raise money.
When Rebecca first contacted me for a brand identity for her new venture, I listened to the things that were important to her. She expressed that she wanted a brand identity that was approachable and fun, but that also reflected her professionalism. The brand needed to appeal to both corporate businesses and artists alike, as well as reflect the core of her business, which was to connect the two in order to collaborate on fundraising projects.
So, after we'd had a coffee, I went away and did some research. I came up with some initial ideas in the form of mood boards which I presented to Rebecca for feedback. I showed how different design elements could enhance certain aspects of her ethos more effectively.
After the initial feedback on my research and suggested direction, I started to sketch out some ideas. I liked the idea of reflecting that Becks & Co. helps to bring about good connections.
I also felt that the logo design needed to be simple and iconic in approach, but combined with good use of colour. This meant that the overall look would be professional and 'classic' yet the colour and application would bring a fun feel to it, making sure it wasn't too corporate and unapproachable. Below are some of the elements for the brand identity that I developed.
